Spencer is a citizen of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation who spent most of his high school and undergraduate years in various internships for the Nation. His various roles with the Muscogee Nation, as well as a Congressional internship in Washington, D.C. during his time at OSU, fostered a desire to understand law and government– leading him to the University of Tulsa College of Law.
While in law school, Spencer was a member of the Native American Law Student Association. Spencer also studied for a summer semester in Dublin, Ireland where, in addition to taking international law courses, Spencer worked in the Irish Seanad (Senate).
Upon graduating from law school, Spencer returned to his hometown of Okmulgee and founded a solo firm with a focus on community development and tribal court litigation. He assisted in the formation of community-oriented non-profit organizations and small businesses, and served Mvskoke families with tribal court representation and estate planning services.
